KU Opera Gala

 

Join the University of Kansas School of Music for the 2012 KU Opera Gala at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, May 5, 2012, 7:00 pm. This event is FREE but tickets are required.

The University of Kansas Opera Gala will feature excerpts from celebrated operas, all performed by the KU Symphony Orchestra, KU Opera and Choirs. Highlighted excerpts will include those from Bernstein’s Candide; Verdi’s Falstaff; Wagner’s Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg; Guiseppe Verdi’s Overture to Nabucco; and Bizet’s Carmen. Student soloists, accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra, will perform arias from Manon (Massenet); Das Rheingold (Wagner); Il barbiere di Siviglia (Rossini); Madama Butterfly (Puccini); and much more! The Opera Gala will be conducted by David Neely, KU’s Director of Orchestral Activities.
